Same for hdf5. The packages from EPEL work fine.
If you just want to build and run Swarm in Objective-C, just install the RPM for nojava, that will save you some hassle.
If you want to use Java Swarm, as far as I can tell, you need to be running in a 32bit environment. You need to install a java runtime & jdk, I use the one from Sun, but I bet you can fool this one in to thinking you have it.
Swarm is going to look for the Java stuff here:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun
So if you don't install the Sun JDK, I'd suggest you install openjdk and then put a symbolic link from your top level of the openjdk to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun. The Java Swarm requires all the swarm packages, plus swarm-jdk.
