Statement of Interests:
Research in the Hunt Lab can be broadly characterized as a blend of Computational Therapeutics and Therapeutic Engineering. It is problem driven and uniquely interdisciplinary. Goals are to discover novel approaches that accelerate drug development and enable therapeutic advances, optimization, and individualization.
Agenda/Plans:
Members of C. Anthony Hunt‘s Group (http://biosystems.ucsf.edu) at the University of California, San Francisco are using Swarm to develop hierarchical ABMs of mammalian biological subsystems. These include the blood-brain barrier, the intestinal epithelium as a barrier to absorption of xenobiotics, tumor spheroids, and the liver. One goal is to adequately account for relevant but diverse experimental data and knowledge related to the properties of drugs in order to better predict the relative properties of new drugs.
